BENEFITS
Q: Why is Sea Moss a Superfood?
A: Sea Moss Contains 92 of the 102 Minerals and Vitamins our bodies need for proper function
Sea Moss is the single whole food that is naturally packed with almost every mineral that our bodies require for optimal nutritional support and better health. Sea Moss is loaded with nutrients that are vital to the human body such a bromine, sulfur, calcium, iodine, magnesium, phosphorus manganese, potassium, beta-carotene, selenium, protein, pectin, zinc, vitamin -C and vitamin-B just to name a few. Among other nutrients, sea moss contains large amounts of minerals that are very hard to find in food:
- Iron
Iron is needed to produce healthy red blood cells for you and the baby. It is not uncommon for pregnant women to suffer from anemia, a shortage of red blood cells, resulting from producing about 50% more blood than usual.
- Zinc
A zinc deficiency can increase your risk for preterm birth or difficult labor.
- Potassium
Potassium regulates the balance of fluids and electrolytes throughout your body. It is vital for supporting your increased blood volume during pregnancy.
- Phosphorus
Phosphorus is an essential mineral for making strong bones and supports your health by supporting tissue repair, kidney function, and other essential body functions.
- Calcium
Calcium is another important mineral for building healthy teeth and bones, as well as supporting your nervous system.
- Iodine
Iodine regulates your thyroid, which is responsible for managing your metabolism and ensuring the healthy growth of the baby. Iodine can also help with breastmilk production, as most women with low breastmilk supply are deficient in iodine.
- Selenium
Selenium is also used to regulate thyroid function and act as an antioxidant that supports your immune system.
- Manganese
Manganese helps form bone and cartilage. You probably already get enough of it from your regular diet as it is fairly abundant. Sea moss supplements could lead to overconsumption of manganese.
- Vitamin A
Vitamin A is used for many functions in the body, but like manganese, it is easy to get in a regular diet, and too much of it can be harmful, harming bone strength.
- Vitamin C
Vitamin C is important for bone and tooth development as well as supporting the immune system. A vitamin C deficiency can make your body less able to absorb iron from your diet.
- Vitamin D
Vitamin D regulates the amount of calcium from your diet that is used by your body.
- Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Omega 3 fatty acids are an essential building block of the brain and eye tissue, as well as being an essential nutrient for maintaining your own health during pregnancy.
- Reduces Mucus & Soothes the Lungs
Consistent supplication of Sea Moss or even on the specific occasion when you have excess mucus buildup (cold or flu), helps to dissolve phlegm.
Sea Moss is packed with 92 minerals (our body needs a total of 102), 13 vitamins, antioxidants, Omega fatty acids, protein and dietary fiber.
Out of the aforementioned, three ingredients in the natural makeup of Sea Moss-Omega 3, Chlorophyll and Potassium Chloride are known to help dissolve mucus. They can act as natural decongestants to soothe the bronchial system.
Sea Moss is a Demulcent. Demulcents herbs soothe and protect irritated or inflamed tissue. They are rich in carbohydrate mucilage made up of complex polysaccharide molecules. Thus, they become slimy and gummy when they come in contact with water. This physical property has an immediate action on the lining of the intestines and lungs, where it soothes and reduces irritation by direct contact.
In addition to Sea Moss' ability to help dissolve mucus-it soothes the lungs, which is beneficial for anyone suffering from asthma, bronchitis, sore throat or even those who smoke.
- Improves Digestion
Sea Moss is a good source of live bacteria and fiber, which both support a healthy gut. It is also a prebiotic and helps to get rid of bad bacteria in the gut, which further increases digestive health.
- Sea Moss for the Skin
Because of its high vitamin and mineral content, sea moss is great when applied directly to the skin. It helps improve eczema, psoriasis, and acne outbreaks.
- Healthy Thyroid Function
Sea moss contains iodine, a micronutrient necessary for healthy thyroid function, and your body's metabolism.
- Helps Support Weight Loss
Seaweeds and microalgae are rich in fiber that can help you feel full and prevent overeating.
- Boosts Your Energy
Sea moss is full of iron, which many plant-based eaters lack because it's commonly found in animal foods like meat, poultry, and seafood. Sea moss contains about 9 milligrams of iron per 100 grams, which means Sea Moss has 9 times more iron than chicken.
